The Housing Opportunities Action Council (HOAC) is a 25-member governing board of several community partners and agencies dedicated to addressing the root causes of housing affordability and homelessness in Benton County. HOAC was formed in 2009, by The Ten Year Plan (to address homelessness) Steering Committee in order to promote collaboration and report to local government.
As provided by the HOAC website: "The HOAC believes that addressing the root cause of housing affordability and homelessness requires the efforts of every sector, both rural and metropolitan communities, and persons directly experiencing issues of housing affordability and homelessness."
Homelessness is a continued issue in Benton County, and Corvallis which is home to 60% of county residents. HOAC is key to addressing the needs of this universal issue concern and how to unite as a pro-active community. Homelessness is an exceedingly complex issue with no one answer; HOAC is determined to create the answers to ensure safe, healthy and affordable housing for all.
The HOAC meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the Corvallis Downtown Fire Station (400 NW Harrison Blvd, Corvallis, OR 97330). You can find more information and materials of past meetings on the HOAC website.
